Vidushi Ramya Abhijit founded Nrityalaya Dance Academy in the SF Bay Area in 2010 with the primary focus of sharing the beautiful, elegant, rich classical dance form of Bharatanatya with everyone. Nrityalaya Dance Academy is a branch of Nrityalaya Trust, Mysore, India.
We offer multiple classes in 3 locations across the Bay Area (East Bay - Hayward, Fremont and South Bay - Cupertino). We train kids and adults of all ages and competency levels, from beginners to advanced students. We also offer Folk Dance camps geared toward adult dance enthusiasts.
We place great emphasis on overall growth of the student including stronger bodies, sharper minds and an opportunity to network with like-minded people. Please get in touch to find out more.
Vidushi Ramya Abhijit
Ramya is a well-known Bharatanatya dancer trained by the renowned Guru Dr. Tulasi Ramachandra. Dr. Ramachandra has been awarded many awards in India such as Rajyothsava Prashasti and is a highly accomplished Bharatanatya artist. She revived “Goundali” & “Perani” dance forms. She carved her own unique style and named it “Madhurya Marga”, in which Ramya was trained.

Ramya is applauded by art lovers and critics for effectively depicting “bhavabhinaya” hidden in Sahitya and Sangita. Ramya has secured Vidwat degree in Bharatanatya and has been practicing for over 25 years. She has also learnt the basics of Kathak. She has choreographed, directed and performed on several prominent stages across India and the USA, including mesmerizing dance dramas like Sri Dakshayini Charite, Gokula Nirgamana, Jaya Jaya Vijayee Raghurama with 75 dancers captivating the audience.
Ramya is an AMI certified Montessori Teacher. She co-founded the TAALA dance group which has performed on several large events across California. She is an RJ for the Bengaluru Voice radio show in the SF Bay Area.
