Vidushi Dr. Tulasi Ramachandra
Guru Dr. Tulasi Ramachandra is a highly accomplished Bharatanatya artist with in-depth knowledge and novel perspective towards dance, music and literature. She is the Founder Director of Nrityalaya Trust, Mysore, India which celebrated its 30-year Anniversary in 2010. She has trained and nurtured a large number of students who have been doing very well all over the world.
Guru Tulasi is the recipient of several coveted awards like Rajyothsava Prashasti in 2004 and Karnataka Sangeeta Nritya Academy Award in 2007. She carved her own unique style and named it “Madhurya Marga”. She has the credit of reviving “Goundali”, “Perani” and "Suladi" dance forms. Her Doctoral thesis on "The origin and development of Dance in Kannada literature" is published as “Padagati-Paadagati” by the Kannada University, Hampi, India.
Guru Tulasi is well versed in Kuchipudi and Kathak styles of dance. She is also a good singer in the Carnatic style of music. She has composed, choreographed and directed several dance drams with mythological, historical, social and contemporary themes. She has perfomed on various international platforms. She has conducted workshops and rendered lecture demonstrations across India, Sri Lanka and the USA.
